DESCRIPTION:Free to Attend \nMay 3rd\, 10 am – 2 pm at Wildcat Glades  \nAll ages welcome \nHelp us Joplin\, you’re our only hope! \nGet ready because the Wildcat Glades Nature Group\, the City of Joplin\, Liberty Utilities\, the Missouri Department of Conservation\, Wright Tree Service\, Grip-Cuts\, and the Missouri Master Naturalists are teaming up to help save Missouri’s native species and protect Wildcat Glades! This year’s theme\, “Return of the Native Species” focuses on the importance of native species for our local ecosystems and the ways to help foster native species around your own home and community. But if the ultimate battle between good and evil isn’t exactly your forte\, we’ll also feature a Native Tree Giveaway sponsored by Liberty Utilities (Trees must be requested from Liberty Utilities prior to event; additional trees will be available to purchase from Forest Keeling while supplies last)\, live music\, food trucks\, a recycled art contest\, an all-ages Star Wars themed costume contest sponsored by Joplin Parks & Rec\, an outdoor scavenger hunt\, an appearance from the famous 501st Legion\, and numerous booths hosted by organizations from in and around our community. \nNo need to register\, just head out to Wildcat Park any time between 10am – 3pm and enjoy the festivities! DESCRIPTION:Come join us in removing invasive wintercreeper to make way for native plants to reclaim their space. Native plants feed native critters\, and they also help prevent soil erosion\, thereby improving the water quality of Shoal Creek. We will teach you how to identify and remove wintercreeper and we encourage you to discover the plants and animals that live in this area. We would love to help you identify and learn more about anything you find.We will meet at the old Redings Mill Bridge parking lot and then take a short walk to the work site. Please dress for the weather and working outside in the dirt. Protect yourself from poison ivy and the sun! We will provide gloves and water to refill your bottles. You are welcome to work the full three hours or leave whenever you need to\, we are glad to have you with us for as long as you are able.
